But God quickly stopped any attack of pride Elijah might have experienced by sending him to Cherith. Pride was a far worse enemy than any that could slay him physically. Cherith would protect him from that as well as from those who would murder him. Elijah needed the humbling of Cherith or he would be rendered useless for future service.
